Hello everyone and anyone that might have been reading this blog. I am so sorry I have been away for so long. I had a rough middle/end of 2011. I will catch the blog back up to date over the next few weeks.

Our girls have gotten very big and have started laying eggs. They have a finished coop and run that was built for them (will post pictures of all this later).

We will be getting the new chickens soon (I think the end of March they are coming). I am so excited and I am sure the dogs can’t wait to have chicks in the house again.

Will catch you all up soon. Susan

Well, with each passing day it seems the chicks keep getting taller and fatter. They are now starting to get in the rest of their body feathers so the soft fluffy chicks that we got what seems like so long ago are just about gone.

For the most part all of their wing feathers have come in so they are able to fly pretty good. We finally had to put a screen on top of the box while we are gone so they don’t fly out. They can fly from the bottom of the box up to the edge though, so I will be making a new, bigger and taller box for them today.

On a side note, think they have gotten pretty used to me now. I can place my hand in the box and they don’t run to the farthest corner away from me. Plus number 2 just flew up onto my arm last night when I lowered my hand into the box. It was pretty cool. I can also put my hand down with a little bit of food in the palm and they will come over and eat right out of my hands. Will make it so much easier when they move outside to catch them and check on them. Plus should help in collecting the eggs when that time finally comes around.

Well, guess that is all for now. Will take some pictures of them today in the line up so you all can see how big they are getting. We, got to run for now, update you again soon.

Well, the chicks are really starting to bloom. I swear when we went to work yesterday and the time we got home they got bigger and more beautiful. I will very much so have to take some new pictures of them all tomorrow if I can.

Today while we where gone they seem to have knocked over their perch. Guess we need to make one a little bigger and more stable. Got a larger mason jar for their food. They seem to go threw a small jar a day. We will see how this one goes. Think this weekend we are going to have to make their box bigger. They are starting to run out of room again. Not sure how much bigger we can go before we may have to move it to the living room.

Plus we will need to make walls higher. They are all getting pretty good at flying and they might just try to fly right out of the box. Will have to keep an eye on them tommorrow and see how they do as to how high the walls will need to be. But guess that is really all for now. Will post more tommorrow with some pictures. See you all then.
